Baghdad:
#1: One civilian was killed and two others were wounded in a bomb explosion in western Baghdad, a police source said. “An improvised explosive device went off on Wednesday evening (June 9) on the public road in al-Ghazaliya neighborhood in western Baghdad, killing a civilian and injuring two, as well as damaging nearby buildings,” the source, who asked for anonymity, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
#2: Two civilians were wounded Thursday by a roadside bomb blast in northeastern Baghdad, according to a police source. “The bomb exploded, targeting a convoy of a security company in al-Husseiniya region, northeastern Baghdad, injuring two passing civilians,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
#3: A roadside bomb targeted Abdulrahman Dawood, a prominent member of PM Maliki's party when he was driving through Zafaraniyah neighbourhood, southeast Baghdad, at 7.30 a.m. Wednesday. The explosion left Dawood and three of his security guards injured.

Six gunmen stormed into three gold jewelry shops in the center of Basra shortly before 8 p.m., killed the owners, then fled with a large amount of jewelry, according to police and hospital officials.
Tikrit:
#1: Two Sahwa fighters were killed and two more were wounded by gunmen in south of Tikrit, a police source said on Wednesday. “Unknown gunmen opened fire on a Sahwa checkpoint near Sdiera al-Sahel village in al-Sharqat district, south of Tikrit, killing two Sahwa fighters and injuring two more,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
#2: Unknown gunmen kidnapped a driver on Wednesday in northeast of Tikrit, according to a security source. “They kidnapped the driver on the main road between Soliman Beik district and Touz Khormato, northeast of Tikrit,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Balad:
#1: A roadside bomb went off on Thursday morning near a U.S. convoy in Balad district, according to a security source. “The bomb exploded targeting the convoy in al-Mahata region on the international road linking Baghdad with Mosul near Balad district, damaging one of the convoy’s vehicles,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
#2: “Another bomb was detonated near the house of a Sahwa fighter in Tal Aaber region, east of Balad, without causing casualties,” he added.
Al Zab:
#1: Two Sahwa (Awakening) movement members were killed and two others injured in attack on a Sahwa checkpoint west of the northern city of Kirkuk, police said on Thursday. An armed group attacked a checkpoint in the area of al-Zab, some 110 kilometres west of Kirkuk, in the early hours of Thursday.
Mosul:
#1: An army officer was wounded on Wednesday by a hand grenade in northern Mosul, a police source said. “An army lieutenant was seriously wounded on Wednesday afternoon (June 9) when a gunman threw a hand grenade on him inside Mosul University in al-Majmouaa al-Thaqafiya region, northern Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
#2: One policeman was killed by gunmen in west of Mosul on Wednesday, a police source said. “Unknown gunmen killed a policeman while on vacation on the road between al-Mahlabiy and Talafar districts, west of Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He gave no further details.
Al Anbar Prv:
#1: Two civilians were wounded on Thursday when gunmen blew up a cop’s house in northern Falluja, a police source said. “Unidentified armed men blew up a policeman’s house in al-Saqlawiya region in northern Falluja, injuring two civilians and damaging a nearby house,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The gunmen planted a number of explosive charges and amounts of TNT and C4 inside the house to destroy it,” he added.
#2: Three policemen were wounded on Thursday in a landmine explosion in al-Qaem in western Anbar, a police source said. “A landmine exploded while a police vehicle patrol was passing in central al-Qaem district, injuring three policemen and damaging the car,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
#3: A U.S. military vehicle was damaged on Thursday by a thermal bomb blast in Anbar, a U.S. army source said. “The bomb went off targeting a U.S. military convoy in Anbar province on Thursday afternoon (June 10), damaging one of the convoy’s vehicles,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. He did not specify the attack’s location.
Afghanistan: "The Forgotten War"
#1: A suicide bomb ripped through a wedding party for a family with ties to police in the Taliban's heartland in Afghanistan, killing at least 40 people and wounding dozens more, officials said Thursday. The bomb blast late Wednesday almost completely flattened the outer wall of a compound in the Arghandab district of Kandahar where male wedding guests had gathered for a meal. The windows and walls of the mud-brick dwellings were shattered and cracked. Women guests at the party were in another compound that was not hit by the explosion, witnesses said. Interior Ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary said children were among the dead and wounded, and that it was a suicide attack. He said at least 40 people were killed and 74 were wounded. The groom was among the injured. The family that was attacked included a number of Afghan police officers. The groom's brother and two of his cousins were in the police force, according to another cousin, Mohammad Alkozay.
#2: The Finnish Defence Forces made a statement on Wednesday evening that a Swedish-Finnish crisis management force had come under fire in Afghanistan, but none of the troops were killed or wounded. The troops came under fire while attempting to extract a stuck Swedish patrol vehicle on the western side of the city of Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan. The patrol returned fire during the engagement.
#3: Four civilians sustained injuries in an encounter between security forces and Taliban militants in Afghanistan's eastern Khost province on Thursday, an official said. "The clash occurred at 07:00 a.m. local time in Sabari district as a result four innocent civilians -- two women and two children - - were injured,"Mohammad Nawab who serves with the coordination department of Afghan army in the province told Xinhua. All the injured, he added, were innocent passersby. There were no casualties on the troops, he stressed. However, he did not say if there were any casualties on Taliban militants.
#4: A bomb planted on a motorbike went off in the southern city of Karachi, killing one man and wounding two police officials, the city's police chief Waseem Ahmed said.
