NATO is reporting the death of an ISAF soldier from an IED attack in an undisclosed location in southern Afghanistan on Tuesday, January 25th.

Reported security incidents

Baghdad:
#1: A high-ranking officer in Iraqi Interior Ministry's Embassies Protection Directorate was shot dead in southwestern Baghdad's Al-Amil District on Monday evening, a security source said on Tuesday. "Lt. Brigadier, Raad Fakhri, from the Interior Ministry's Embassies Protection Directorate, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in southwest Baghdad's Al-Amil District, while driving his personal car on Monday night," the security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

#2: An Iraqi doctor was injured and his driver was shot dead in an attack by unknown armed men on their car in northern Baghdad on Tuesday, a security source said. A group of armed men have opened fire on Dr. Laith Khalid Hussein of southern Baghdad's al-Madaen Hospital and his driver in northern Baghdad's Uteifiya district, seriously wounding him and killing his driver, before they escaped to an unknown destination," the security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency on Tuesday.

#3: Six Iraqi civilians have been injured in an explosive charge blast targeting a bus, carrying them through east Baghdad's Al-Shaab District, during their return from a visit to Karbala.


Kirkuk:
#1: “Two unknown persons stabbed a policeman in Arafa neighborhood, western Kirkuk,” he said, noting that the man was taken to the Kirkuk public hospital in a serious condition.


Riyadh:
#1: “Unknown gunmen opened fire on a civilian car early Monday near al-Humiera village in Riyadh district, southwest if Kirkuk, killing a Sahwa element and a civilian,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The Iraqi army found the bodies in a car of two government-backed Sahwa members showing signs of torture and bullet wounds near the town of Riyadh, 50 km (30 miles) southwest of Kirkuk in northern Iraq, army sources said.


Mosul:
#1: In Nineveh, the oil productions company manager Othman Abdul Rahman was wounded in an armed attack in Palestine Street, eastern Mosul.

#2: “Two vehicles collided on Mosul-Talafar road near Abu Mariya village, killing three soldiers and a woman and injuring another one,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

#3: “A civilian was seriously wounded in a blast in al-Hamadaniya region, east of Mosul,” the source added.

#4: Unknown gunmen kidnapped a contractor on Monday in eastern Mosul, according to a security source. “Unknown gunmen kidnapped a civilian contractor near his house in al-Muthanna neighborhood, eastern Mosul,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.


Al Anbar Prv:
#1: The muezzin of Al Tawfiq Mosque Mohammed Khalil Al Alwani was killed in an armed attack by unknown gunmen in central Fallujah, a police source in Anbar province said.


Afghanistan: "The Forgotten War"
#1: A civilian was killed Monday night during an operation conducted by Afghan and foreign troops in the northern province of Takhar, said Mullah Mohammed Omar, a district governor.

#2: Five militants were also killed in the operation in the Khoja Ghar district. 'Another civilian and several other insurgents were detained,' the governor said.

#3: In the southern province of Helmand, an airstrike by foreign troops Monday killed six Taliban commanders as they were distributing roadside bombs to other insurgents, the provincial governor's office said.

#4: Two insurgents were killed Monday by an ISAF airstrike in the southern province of Ghazni, the alliance said.
