If this happens I will be 100% surprised. I mean- look at the Sony TVs with Google. They're like $600 for a 24" TV. Does anyone own one of those? I just don't see this happening. Like the article says the market is overcrowded and the profit margins are too slim. Not very appealing for any company...

I'd prefer a clean modern OS with usability first and foremost.

Who says they haven't? Maybe the iCal developers are so solidly done that they are dinking around with skins now?

And out of curiousity, what does a "modern OS" look like anyway? Is there some standard or generally accepted look for that? Or perhaps by "modern" you mean "not done before" ? I'm honestly curious about the answer to this.

    Screw the gratuitous eyecandy

Eye candy that gets in the way of functional is stupid. Otherwise, as long as I can modify it, I couldn't care less.

my fear is the democrats will try to use this a political gain and that is so very wrong both to the military and for this good event.

It turns a great event into worthless BS. It was just luck of the draw that a Dem was in power when this happen and it was only a matter of time. I already am watching some people try to turn it into political gain and it makes me sick.
Only took 96 posts before someone threw the celebration into the *****ter.

Hyper-Threading (Intel Core i7 only) a technology that allows two threads to run simultaneously on each core. So a quad-core iMac has eight virtual cores, all of which are recognized by Mac OS X. This enables the processor to deliver faster performance by spreading tasks more evenly across a greater number of cores.

    -.-

It would be interesting to compare Fibre Channel with Thunderbolt. Apart from TB integrating video, TB looks a lot like an evolution of Fibre Channel.

Hum, you have no idea what Fiber channel is if you seriously claim that. Fiber channel is a networking protocol for storage essentially, Thunderbolt is a host based technology. Call me when Thunderbolt can be switched, redundant, do LUN provisioning and can be extended over a MAN to offer multi-site storage.

Also, remember when everyone thought the leaked iPhone 4 was really ugly and there was no way it was real. Exactly...

    Agreed.

To everyone else here.. it's a mock-up, which means it's not real. I think we all know Apple wouldn't release one that looks like the mock-up.

Regarding the OP. I'm loving the idea of a redesign, and larger screen. As i said before, iPhone 5 is a top secret in Apple Inc. and i think we'll be surprised when it's released.

And yet prices in the Australian Apple Store are still 25% higher than the USA Store. How rude, Apple.

Top end 27" iMac = US$1999, or in the Australian Store, AUD$2299 which at the current exchange rate is about US$2500. Why should we pay more, Apple? If anything, we're closer to China so should pay less on shipping!

Whilst it's slightly better than yesterdays prices, I'm still seriously not happy.
I'd buy one if we got the USA prices.

*sigh* Every time someone makes this mistake...

Bear in mind that the US prices do not include sales tax of any kind. In your case Australian prices include GST which I believe currently runs at 10%? If you're anything like the UK there may be additional import taxes to pay and the cost of doing business is likely to be higher (everything from shipping costs to salaries affect the price you pay at the checkout). Add in a margain that Apple will calculate to protect themselves from changes in the exchange rate and you'll probably be very close to price parity. Just as in the UK you're paying extra for the product because of the country, not because of Apple.

That's not to say Apple DON'T screw up on exchange rates and gouge the heck out of us non-Americans of course. The Mac Mini being the most recent, and painful, example. But you need to make sure you compare like for like before complaining.

True, that's why I like to look at the PEG Ratio (P/E to Growth). If we take the current price of 130 minus cash net of payables and receivables (approx $17 a share), you get 113 for the "enterprise" value of Apple. I'll give it a conservative $5/share earnings this year, for a P/E of 23. According to Yahoo, we have an estimate of 30% growth this year, so we are getting a PEG of less than 1 for this year. Less than 1 is cheap, HOWEVER, it doesn't mean it can't/won't get cheaper.

Excellent comments. Long-time AAPL investors have seen these moments of despair before -- too many times before, to be honest. The markets have always treated Apple this way, unfortunately. It's difficult to imagine Apple's prospects being any brighter. The company is moving forward on all fronts. These are times when you have look down the road instead of at the potholes at your feet.

I've lost a bit. :( actually quite a lot. I bought at around 170ish a while ago in prepare for the surge of macworld like last year but am at a bit of a loss right now. I think my avatar shows my recent mood.

I wouldn't worry. Just sit back and wait a bit. It'll be back. I have some I bought at 26 (pre-split) and some I bought around iDay (146). Not too worried, but I'm in for long haul anyway.

Anyone arguing against this is an idiot.

First people complain about not having choices or prices being too high. Now there are more options and pricing is lower.

    Wow. Just wow.

Well those addicted to Apple can still pay more for their songs. Enjoy. I won't stop you. Just like those that want to pay more for ebooks.

Personally - I'll shop it around and pay the best price whoever is selling it.

    BSD is not GNU.

No, but Bash is. I meant the GNU/Berkeley as a hybrid BSD userland with GNU parts thrown in. I know the difference quite clearly thank you.

    On Anandtech (http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=3475)

Apple has submitted a filing with the FCC for the Bluetooth version of its single-button right-clickable mouse, the Mighty Mouse. The new mouse will be exactly the same as the current Mighty Mouse except for its wireless feature. The mouse comes with a single button that does both left-click and right-click duties. One omni-directional pointing ball in the middle allows you to scroll in any direction.

The new Mighty Mouse uses two standard AA batteries and will be compatible with OS X 10.4.6 and later. Some users reported that the Mighty Mouse had some issues with right clicking, and often times the single fat button would click both sides of the mouse. It is unclear whether or not this has been addressed.

No release date is set for the new Bluetooth Mighty Mouse -- currently codenamed M6, but judging from the FCC filing, the new mouse should arrive soon.

You're just trying to quiet the only voice that figured you out. Getting rid of me smooths your sail all the way to a WW victory.

    Uh, no.

Once they vote you off and find you are a WW, there will be no questions. Or they can vote me off now, and you can kill someone else tonight. Their call, but I doubt anyone is going to be influenced by this act, especially after your earlier posts.
